I design landscapes that showcase California's beauty, conserve water, restore soil health, and create wildlife habitat.
Holistic, permaculture based design is my goal. I consider all the components of the landscape in order to optimize the ecological and human benefits, with minimal installation costs.
Locally native plants form the backbone of my gardens. These plants are the superheros of healthy and diverse ecosystems because they support the entire food web! A watershed approach means I consider how water moves through the landscape and how to keep a maximum amount of it on site. This can be accomplished by incorporating features such as swales and berms, rain gardens, or water infiltration basins. Regenerative practices such as local wood mulch, biodegradable weed suppression (sheet/lasagna mulching) and re-use of existing materials (such as with urbanite or hugelkultures) are utilized. |
